Rick Beato interview with Neal Schon

Interesting I assumed it was an FM9 and didn't pay attention - but its a Kemper
When he's talking about going back to tubes, doesn't he say 'I may have a Fractal like this (points down), just for my in-ears' I believe he said Fractal.

This is the part in the interview.

He did mention Fractal good catch but in this video its obvious its a Kemper which was strange - probably was already there provided by film crew

Sounded pretty good - never had one but wouldn't mind trying one but I will wait for next gen Fractal

That is Jan Hammer playing his ass off on drums on the iconic studio version of 'Blue Wind'; JB-lead/rhythm guitars, JH-drums/keys

Years and years ago when Rick was just getting the channel off the ground he mad some video about underrated guitar players (or something like that). I commented "if Neal Schon doesn't get a mention then I'm so done" which was supposed to be tongue and cheek but in hindsight probably made me sound like a total dick. Rick replied and absolutely SPAZZED at me. I apologised profusely. It sucks because I think Neal is both myself and Rick's favourite guitar player, so it's a shame to get offside about it. But yeah...weird moment that he probably doesn't remember.

I'll definitely have to check this out.

Some of these guys are sensitive creatures. Neal blocked me on his Facebook, so...

Yeah unfortunately Neal seems like he has a huge chip on his shoulder about a lot of things. Still one of if not my most favourite guitar player of all time.
For one thing, I would bet my entire guitar gear arsenal that he's exhausted with reading/hearing, "You should get Steve Perry back" or "Without SP, there is no Journey" from the peroxide-permed, spandex-wearing sweat hogs in their 50's and 60's who cannot understand that SP can no longer sing those songs. I could care less about all of the other Journey band-related drama. I just want to hear some guitar playing.
And for the Kemper thing in the video: if I had the means, I would try/buy as much gear as Neal enjoys.

I relate to Neal the most on the subject of effects. We both throw the kitchen sink at our guitar tones these days 🤣almost to a fault

Yeah, I wished Rick would have discussed the Kemper a little bit and let Neal turn some knobs for a couple of minutes.
