FM9 Firmware Version 10.0

Perhaps a stupid question (wouldn't be the first time), but my FM9 shipped with 9.02 (bought a month or so ago) so I assume that has the latest round of presets?

Updating now - I have to say that FAS seems to be the only company in the world that does progress bars that actually reflect linear time reality.

I don't see what you're referring to...

You 're parsing a windows file reader...

What OS are you using? Does your OS know what app to open a .syx file with?
Tahoe 26.01. The syx. files open with FM9-Edit...

Was able to upload the files, just have not heard them yet. Here's what each firmware update file icon looked like, v. 10.0 and this iteration of DynaCab

Will there ever be an updated PDF User's Manual? Or is the Fractal Wiki the permanent go-to for online help (besides this forum)?
Yek is the most amazing driving force behind the Wiki I’ve ever encountered.

I trail behind him and touch up this and that.

But the first place to check is the manual(s). Matt is the author of the manuals and has done a great job with them. The Wiki has old knowledge and new information we’ve gathered from comments from Cliff and Matt and others, but the manuals are the official documentation.

I'm not a mac guy but that just looks like the OS doesn't know what a sysx file is...

Same comment applies.

The extension is .syx.

That is a SysEx (System Exclusive) file type.

My brain decided to combine them ;)
Jusy checked the previous backups of my system when betas and final versions were released. All of my backups now display the question mark icon. It won't be possible for my to verify what's occurred to my FM9 until Friday. Guess I'll be munching celery and blue cheese dip until then...

You're looking at files on your computer.

That isn't about anything on your FM9.

FractalBot handles sysex files - that's what it's job is.

You're over thinking this - just update the same as you always have...

OK, I've just never seen any of the syx. icons with a question mark. The uploads went through flawlessly. Will need to check them Friday when I have time.

They open with whatever has been assigned in macOS. Do a Get Info on the file and you can assign it to any application you choose. .SYX files are independent of Fractal or any other MIDI app, because they’re system exclusive, “.syx”.

It’s a convenience for us to be able to assign them to a particular application, like FM9-Edit, but it could be any other app that can read them too.

Years ago, macOS had a much tighter association of file types to applications. The application developers could specify what their applications could read.

When Apple moved to being built upon a *nix-based OS, their mapping of file types to applications reverted to using the file extensions, which is much less exacting, and eventually became the typical free-for-all, that we can willy-nilly assign the file types to anything, whether it’s correct or not.

It was not a day of celebration IMO.

Thanks for the update!

My stock FM9 now says FM9 Turbo on boot up.

WOW, I know Fractal is amazing with supporting and upgrading existing products, but this is a whole new level!

EDIT: Actually I forgot I do have the Turbo haha. I think I got mixed up because I don't have the larger screens
