Does anyone know if there is any difference between the display panels on the old Standard and Ultra? Are they identical?
 
Thanks. I have an Ultra that I bought new, and it's been faithful since 2010. But the display has flaked out, and resetting cables didn't fix it. There's a Standard for sale in the area for cheap, and I'm thinking if I got it even cheaper that I could swap out the display.

I know, I know, for a coupla hundred more I could get a used AxeFX II. Maybe I'm irrational. I just hate throwing away what remains a solid and usable piece of gear that I've had forever. I'd feel slightly better about junking a Standard after I stripped it of the display.
 
Worth checking with Fractal to see if they have the display in stock. I bought one at some point from them and it wasn't expensive.
 
I have the axefx std. Such a great device still, love it. But will lost the display soon((
I hope that I can find something to replace it

Everybody wants the latest and greatest, and so few stop to calculate how much the latest and greatest really is. Cognitive dissonance. It costs so much more, it MUST be awesomely and overwhelmingly better.

I had an FM3. I have a Quad Cortex. I once had an Axe-Fx Standard, then I had the Ultra. The differences are marginal.

Well said! I use my Ultra in 4cm with my amp and all the effects sound just as good as it did since it's release.
 
The Ultra is still awesome for effects. It is a little harder to do some things on the Ultra than the new units but it is worlds easier than some older rackmount units.

I still think the Ultra is pretty solid as a preamp into FX return of an amp too.

The solution I see is a screen from another device that is for scrap ...., these LCD screens are what they have, their circuit where the liquid circulates is damaged. I bought 2 months ago a fractal Ultra for € 250. a gift !!!! The truth is the best emulation and effects unit that has passed through my hands !!!! It is super versatile and the effects are perfect and complex. Is it true that the spidf signal that I take to my zoom U44 audio interface is a little lower than the analog one? I am taking both signals at the same time: digital and analog, to compare the difference in sound and the truth is I think I like the analog one more .... I don't know if it is because of the AD / DA converters, it sounds louder and a little warmer. Greetings friends !!!!!
