FM3 Firmware Version 9.02 public beta (3)

Cliff spoiled users with so many firmware releases, close attention to user feedback and interaction with the Fractal community. Now, unfortunately, it seems to be expected. You won't find many, if any other companies, modeler or not, who do close to the same. Be patient and be thankful. Kinda like spoiled kids who get whatever they want then pout when they don't. Ok, I'm done.

I have no doubt Cliff and the team are doing all they can to fit in as much as they can whilst making it as stable as they can and minimizing bugs all with as little CPU hit as possible and as quickly as they possibly can.

I know nothing about coding but I can only image this is not a "straightforward" task.

Personally - as I've said before - I have zero interest in the new comps, fuzz's, efx etc - I am only interested in the 2 new Amp Algorithm changes - but I'm probably not the "average" FM3 user. Im very "basic" :)

We have a very famous shampoo commercial tag-line down here in Oz ... "it wont happen overnight, but it will happen"

The hard work and continued support of FAS to the FM3 are appreciated. They are in fact the reason why I chose Fractal over alternatives.
That said, the lack of updates on progress with the next firmware for the fm3 is concerning and leaves one wondering whether:
- The fm3 has reached its limit: cannot handle any of the new firmware
-There are challenges with specific items of the new firmware. E.g. in the past with the reverbs
-This is part of a staged deployment strategy by FAS where they will first refine the firmware in fm9 before they attempt a beta with the fm3

Unfortunately, for now we can only speculate...

Errrrr, he still does. It’s just a question Dad.
Look at the dates on this page between major version releases:

https://wiki.fractalaudio.com/wiki/index.php?title=Firmware_release_notes_-_FM3

7.0 -> 8.0 was 6 months
8.0 -> 9.0 was 4 months

This will almost certainly be 10.0 when released as both Axe Fx and FM9 were major version updates.

There's a huge list of improvements/updates rolling down from the Axe Fx III (assuming the typical approach). It takes time to do it right.

Plus its only been 9 weeks.

That is not correct. This is the 3rd beta release for version 9.02. Beta 1 was released Nov. 5, 2024. So, version 9.02 has been in beta for nearly 5 months.

It's not unusual for FAS to go this long between official releases, but it is very unusual for a beta to go this long. They are obviously having some problems for this to be in beta this long. Personally, I suspect the FM3 is nearing the end of its lifecycle. Time will tell.

That open job is for an app developer for iOS and Android.

Since they currently don't have an app, I seriously doubt that there is any relationship to FM3 firmware.
Maybe they’re planning the next generation which may be able to interface with phones and tablets wirelessly. Sweeet. The FMX3.
