I'm an amp guy and I'm incredibly hopeful this is a great fx unit, because fractal gets effects, routing, and editing in the right way that works best with my process and how my mind works. I bet I'm not alone.

I thought we were talking about Fractal Audio-excuse my mistake!
You know if it an FX unit I hope for Fractals sake it sells. I just don't think it will.
If it is that's great for you and the other amp guys. Why you don't see the benefit, especially to FRactal, for a combination of the FX8 tech and the FM tech is beyond me.
Actually also for the amp guys. You have a backup at your feet plugged in and ready t go.

Speaking from a personal standpoint, I have a lot of pedals I already like and will use, but want to add fractal to my board as well. I will never use modeling. I don’t like modeling. I don’t like fiddling with that stuff. I want great effects, a nice Strat, into a Mesa California Tweed. Without having to program it.

And that's great- I hope you get it. Great amp- Also a personal standpoint............Guess we will see.
Either way, some will be happy and that's cool!
I,m happy right now-But if fractal came out with anything that allowed me to avoid lugging an amp I would buy it. I would also buy the combo I have been talking about FXx plus FMx-one unit. Doesn't have to be huge. FX only unit I have no use for. But that is MY personal standpoint. Maybe we will all be happy! :)

The FX8 is just massive. It never appealed to me because I have to run a bunch of cables back and forth to the amp and it takes up space. I played a G System live for a while and carrying around a massive pedalboard is not my cup of tea.

I absolutely love a smaller form factor. Right now I have a MC8 controlling my Road King 2 with an H90 in the loop, and it's great. If Fractal ever came out with an H90 or HX effects-sized device that could run 4CM, I could ditch any other pedals, just run my MC8 to my amp and sit the fractal unit on top of the amp. Technically you can do this now with the FM3, but I didn't like the converters on the FM3 with my amps. YMMV, and I think an all-effects fractal unit would absolutely kill. If it has Fractal overdrives and gates in it, I'd be very pleased with it.

Might be a fun add-on to an FM9 rig. (as my wallet cringes in fear)....
 
For the little time I have been here I think I have learned a bit but may have it wrong. As I understand it there is a reason the FM9 and FM3 are not smaller. We are using gear from a company who doesn’t just squeezes ten pound into a five pound box because people want them to. They account for simple things like cooling. In my world of electronics and industrial equipment the two biggest reason the electronics fail are heat and vibration. Fractals gear seems built like a tank. It cools well and takes life traveling very well. I’ll keep the ten pound in a ten pound box over ten pounds in a five pound box any day just for the reliability of it.

Because, as we all know, this will be the greatest and also worst thing to have ever been created in the history of guitar-related, digital audio products that don't include amp modeling and IRs, 1 million footswitches, all mind-controlled, with no programming whatsoever involved, plays my guitar for me, and also makes my bed every morning.

I seriously doubt that... But not sure what that has to do with "FM0" that you mentioned, which is what I was replying to.

If there are no amps in the product, they turn away a good percentage of people who would never use an effects only box ... especially one that big or expensive. They leave the door open to Line6 to capture those people in pedalboard market and sub $1K price.
