A few RG3120s from the other day, too bad the lighting conditions weren't the greatest for taking pictures. Three are mine and three are owned by my friend.

As a digression, had a pretty prominent tech here gouge a huge gash in the flame top of one of my 3120s (bottom right) while doing some work on the pickup. We're talking down to the bare wood. So that one has to get a refinish (I'm thinking Royal Violet), and while it's under the knife it's getting a SS refret, all black hardware and Suhr DA for the bridge pup. Undecided on the neck but probably I'll just have to get an Aldrich to pair them up.

The "S" one looks like new!
I have a soft spot for that period/model
It’s a 92 S440 made in Japan . One of the cheapest guitars I ever bought £165 with a Hiscox case . It is in perfect condition and I rewired it with new pickups and parts. Plays great no issues but I keep thinking I would like 57110 ss frets on it ( and the other ones) I may get around to it sometime.

So this one ended up taking quite a bit of time. However, I present to you my new (old) RG3120RV.

The guitar retains the neck and body of my old 3120TW, but has had:

1. Stainless steel refret (Jescar Extra Jumbos)
2. All new black hardware. Yeah, tracking down that Ibanez locking nut in black.. well let us just say that Rich Harris himself wished me good luck with the search haha
3. Suhr Aldrich in the bridge in place of a Steve's Special

I've yet to test drive this sweet machine, I'm a bit at a loss as to what piece I should torment her first with. Seems like some Alex Skolnick lead work on "The Ritual" might suffice.

Thanks!

You can kind of make out some of the damage below the neck pickup. I haven't had any experience with refinishes, but I've always loooved the Ibanez Royal Violet finish, so I thought what the hell. I went with a seriously top luthier over here and I am so very glad I did. The work is sublime.

I am also happy he managed to really nail down the color, the original top was pretty muted and the flame didn't really do much, but this color seems to really take on nice shades depending on the light. I also love the fact that the natural binding looks much better when it's given some contrast by the brighter and bolder top.

Two of my all-time favorite Ibanez guitars in my collection are the RG8520 J Custom and the RG3770DX Prestige, both visually stunning and absolutely comfortable to play.

Oh no, the bridge on this 12-string is about to come off.

I just got a bone bridge made and put new coated strings on it and tried to tune it to normal when a strange popping sound started, so I checked the ends of the strings and the head of the bridge and realized that the back of the bridge must be coming off the headstock since there is a clear gap in it.

Original bridge "bone" (plastic) not good so I made bone one and I shaped it because of the intonation. The sound improved significantly, but it's a shame that the bridge is about to come loose. I called a familiar salesman and he'll get back to me tomorrow. They have a similar guitar in the store, so the bridge I made will fit it directly, but I'll have to think about what I'll end up with tomorrow.
