Axe-Fx Firmware Version 21.01

The noise can't be removed by the input gate even, so definitely a bug IMO.
The input gate is before the Drive block so that makes sense - it can't eliminate noise created after it in the signal chain. The Drive is obviously generating the noise... Very likely a bug.

The input noise gate definitely isn't first in the signal chain, even if it is in the IN block, it works on amp noise too.

Not exactly methinks.

It works on noise from your guitar, that's amplified by the amp, but not on noise generated by the amp itself, if there is any.

It's not magic. It can't remove noise that's not present in the signal going through it, so it can't remove noise that's generated by something that comes after it in the signal chain.

The input gate is affected greatly by say a drive pedal "after" it, so it can't possibly be first in chain. You can put a drive block after amp and cab and still kill the noise with the the input gate.

The fact is that when using other drives than the Klone Chiron, I did not hear this noise, so I think it may be a mistake. I doubt that the manufacturer of a real the Centaur clone overlooked such a shortcoming.

@unix-guy is right. When I have excessive noise issues, I turn off the noise gate in the input block and add a Gate/Expander block and tie it to the input. It's a great tool, especially for high gain amp noise.

About the Gate/Expander block

The standalone Gate/Expander block allows precise control over gate settings and flexibility, because you can put anywhere on the grid and it offers side-chaining. A common position is after a high-gain Amp block.

Thanks for the updates. Too shame I now stuck at 20.04, cause since 21.00 my favorite preset based on herbert sounds like ass, cause of that "traditional" parasitic low-end (which people mainly try to reduce with ts and other ods) and I dunno what to do with it.:grinning:

Post a clip of it
Increase low cut
Switch to Herb MK3

I think I found a bug in the drive block, specifically the Clone Chiron. When this cube is connected, there is noise even with the guitar completely muted using the volume potentiometer. Noise gate doesn't help. Such noise does not occur when using a different drive cube. I checked it on two guitars so I conclude that the problem is not with my guitar. The noise can be heard even with the drive cube volume set to position 3. Of course, the noise increases when the volume is increased. With other drive cubes, there is no noise even with the volume position set to 10.
I can't reproduce this. Please post your preset.

I'm sending a preset - 4 scenes. In the first scene A: Klone Chiron with Bias set to the default value of 0.000 (audible noise when the guitar is turned down), second scene B: Klone Chiron with Bias set to -0.0001 (no noise). Third scene C: with T808 MOD (no noise). Fourth scene D: with T808 OD (no noise). I use headphones. When using Klone Chiron, just change the setting from the default Bias to -0.001 or 0.001 - the noise disappears. This seems to be a bit of a strange phenomenon to me, so I think it's a bug. Unless I'm doing something wrong, in which case I'm sorry. Sorry for my English, it's not my native language but I'm trying :)

That's just ridiculous amounts of gain. What you're hearing is roundoff noise. With a reasonable amount of gain you wouldn't hear it. You've got a Drive block going into a high gain amp with the amp's input boost turned on. There's so much gain that it's unplayable.

I understand, sorry again for the unnecessary trouble :)
