Music Man Majesty... weird thing

Sooo...
The AX3 has a weird thing.
My Music Man Majesty played really great and feel super tight with a real amp.

But when connected to the AX3 it sound really closed without any treble. When connecting a lower output pickup it sounds WAY TIGHTER then her.
What happening?

If it act like my jp7 and also @AlGrenadine one, these guitars have a ton of output and bass . This is clearly the guitar that needs to have specific presets and where I had to tweak my presets before playing with it

So... the AX3 can't handle high output pickups? Sound weird to me.. If I'm connected to an Fender Super Champ (which is a tube modeler is acts and opens up)

I don’t know, but we discuss in private with Al grenadine about this guitar, because he had a lot of basses too happening, and I told him that it was normal as I have the same feeling with mine.
The guitar got no problem when I plug it through my JP2c, but when I plug it in the axe, most of my presets are over gainy.

Also I talk about the jp series, not the majesty, but in the end they are close

Have you adjusted the Instrument Level input?
Personally I’m with the « auto » mode of the impedance and none of the others guitar needs to be adjusted. This one is something 😅. Even the one with emg sound like single coils after it. The thing is that the pickups are too close from the strings, and even when you screw them at max, they still too close . I have maybe 7/8 others guitars with di marzio’s and don’t have the problem .

When you set a preset with another guitar, a whatever clean metal sound, when you play with this one it sound terrible. At first. Then if you build a preset around this guitar from the beginning this is not a problem, it works

Way off-topic here, but you guys maybe could help me. I've just bought a DiMarzio Dreamcatcher and soon a Rainmaker, could you guys with Majesties help me measuring you factory spec pickup heights (measured fretted at the last fret)?

I've searched everywhere including EBMM website & forum but official info is nowhere to be found. I just want to know JPs PU height as a starting point and tweak to taste from there if necessary. Thanks in advance...

I have Sonic Ecstasy. Send me a PM and I'll check with a ruler when I'll be available

One other option for the hot pickups is Global Input Gain... Lowering that might help, too.

Just don't forget that it's a global setting ;)

I was going to suggest checking that setting too just in case it got bumped up from the default setting of 1. It may very well need to be lowered for hot pickups.

After a quick research I saw that you cannot adjust the pickup height in majesty’s, so it act like the jp… you have a ultra minimal set up choice. The pickups mount directly to the body with no mechanism for height adjustment

I need to see one day if there is a rubber under the pickup that can be cut. But yeah they are fit like that …

For the rest, the pickup adjustment is something that need to be set differently for every guitar player, there is no global rule. Depends of the attack, the pick, if the action is low of not

Maybe the input trim can do the job too? With this you don’t forgot that you touch something in the global settings 2 days after ☺️

in my experience, "too close" :tearsofjoy:

These are things that I wish that will have option to set for each guitar (for the multiple guitar users). Each guitar can use different gain inputs...

Also.. I wish that the input will simply react as the original input of the amp so I won't need to adjust it any time...

The bridge is 1/8", the neck 3/16", measured from the tops of the screws.
