Please help with XPedal control of delay FB

I was trying to set up my EV-1 to control the number of delay repeats in the "Walking on the Moon" preset (which sounds awesome, BTW). I attached the pedal to External 1 and attached External 1 to the feedback parameter. I set the maximum sweep (toe down) to give me the 20% feedback that comes "stock" with the preset, and set heel down to be 0%, hoping that delay repeats would disappear altogether (for the stab chords during the verses). But with the heel down I still get one repeat, even though I can see the dot progress to zero on the modifier page graph. What am I doing wrong?

feedback 0% i think does return the 1 repeat. maybe add auto-engage to that?

Solved I reckon. Turned on Auto-engage and that did the trick (for reasons I don't fully comprehend).

at pedal below 5%, it turns the block off. which means no delay repeats.

that's how auto-engage works for Wah and any block.

Makes sense. The part that still confuses me is why 0% feedback yields 1 repeat. But a moot point now.
