DI and Processed signal simultaneously recorded without USB?

It overrides my interface as the I/O and restricts me to a 48k sample rate. If I were ONLY tracking guitar and/or reamping, USB is the obvious choice for sake of ease.

DI and Processed signal simultaneously recorded without USB?

Is there a good way to do this? I've tried creating two signal paths from the input to the output (one processed, the other just the direct sound) and using a panner on both paths so that the processed is Left and the clean/dry is Right and treating them as two mono sources, but in the DAW...

New Heavy Stuff! HEAVYYYYY!! (Mayones Regius 7)

Great production! Tone was a bit too fizzy for me though, especially in the intro and "interlude" part. I've had luck experimenting with some degree of a lowpass filter to tame some of the upper fizz that's not doing all that much to really help your sound. Kinda comes across as noise when...

    Stuck In a Rut

Wow... The responses to my original post have been amazing. I'm just getting back on here and going through them, and it looks like I have a lot to cover and a lot of great options to choose from. Thanks, everyone!

    Stuck In a Rut

I feel like I've been playing the same riffs/scales/shapes for the past 3-4 years. What do you guys do to get yourself out of a rut and start playing something new/getting out of the same old routine every time you pick up the guitar?

    Envelope-based volume swell

Thank you so much! I forgot that the "controllers" section can further modify the envelope, ADSR, etc... I was lost by just trying to figure it out through the modifier menu alone.

    Envelope-based volume swell

I'm ideally wanting to create a preset that creates a very slow attack, as if I were using a volume pedal in front of my unit in which the signal would slowly swell, but then it would let off very quickly once I stop playing, as to be able to do another swell in quick succession. I've tweaked...

13.0 Frozen w/ axe edit 3.04 - communication timeout (FIXED)

Since getting the latest firmware and latest version of Axe-Edit, I seem to have a similar issue. Mine seems to be caused by importing or changing patches in Axe-Edit. The Axe-Fx will freeze, input lights remain in the same spot, and then I will get the communication timeout message if I...

    Attenuated vs non-attenuated level-matched comparison?

Is anyone aware of a recorded comparison between an amp using some sort of attenuator and an amp without, that's then level-matched? This is out of pure curiosity. I've just heard that some can affect the tone of the amp apart from simply decreasing the level to the speaker. Granted, there...

    Friedman BE Blues

Sounds great! However, I can't help but feel there's a little too much post-amp compression on the rhythm. Unless you're going for that really poppy sound with your attack. In that case, it sounds great too ;) Probably just a matter of personal taste, but the popping sticks out to me even in...

    How's my mixing?

In my opinion, the second mix is vastly superior to the first. The guitars seemed a little dull in the first mix, and the scooping of the EQ seemed to clear things up.

    Controller for wah, volume, etc.

So, if I were looking for a simple controller that basically looks like a volume or a wah pedal that could be configured with Axe-Fx, what would you guys recommend? For me, I use the Axe-Fx as a studio tool exclusively, so I'm not worried about switching patches or scenes in any sort of a live...

Love the tracks! They have a classic vibe to them. The tone totally works.

FW12 Luck as a Constant Solo!

It's sad how much I've listened to this album because I knew exactly how the solo started just by the song name. Regardless, sounded sick... Love the second half with all of the hammer-on stuff. Well done!

FAS Modern II with Pitch Shift block -5 semitones.

Thanks! Rightfully so though regarding the 7-string sound. There are so many nuances in the harmonic content (overtones mainly) that would be too altered by such a shift in pitch that the sound won't quite sound like ANY sort of guitar (7-string or otherwise) actually tuned to Drop A. Works in...

FAS Modern II with Pitch Shift block -5 semitones.

Latency was actually pretty minimal for me. Definitely wasn't worse than when I tried to play direct into POD Farm or Guitar Rig 5 plugins like I have in the past ;) Whenever I use the Pitch block for this purpose, I usually have a very simplistic signal chain as the Axe-Fx technically uses CPU...

FAS Modern II with Pitch Shift block -5 semitones.

Thanks! That's what I was going for ;) It's a lot easier to fake with high-gain sounds. Medium/low gain stuff doesn't sound nearly as good when using the Pitch block in the front of your signal chain, unfortunately.

FAS Modern II with Pitch Shift block -5 semitones.

Quick unedited, unmixed test of how well the pitch shift block operates at the beginning of a patch. Guitar was normally tuned to Drop D, but with the pitch shift block at -5, it's effectively Drop A. Definitely gets down to 7-string range in a pinch if necessary.

Since I have had my Axe II

I've been playing guitar more. In addition, I've reexamined what "good tone" is with respect to recording. What may sound good when jamming through FRFR monitors may not necessarily sound good in the context of a mix, double-tracked, or whatever.

The Black Keys - Thick Freakness

I set this up in about 20 minutes. Dan uses a JTM45 as part of his live rig, and fuzz is an integral part of his sound at times, so that was the basis of this patch. It's not exact, but it's pretty close for about 20 minutes of work. I didn't see any Black Keys patches on Axe-Change, so I...

    Preferred Reamping Method?

Yeah, I just tried it using the Axe-Fx as an interface. The connectivity worked fine, but the lag was horrendous. Both on the way in and from the tracked DI to the reamped signal. Any remedies for this? Am I just doing something stupidly wrong here?
  24. C

    Preferred Reamping Method?

For those of you who reamp with Axe-Fx, what is your preferred method of doing so? Also, how do you prefer to capture the DI? I ask, because I'm looking at the ways this could be done, whether using a reamp box back into the front of the unit or using the "internal reamping" via USB...

My entry for the Guitar Messenger Contest (AxFx2 + DC700)

The absolute only thing I would suggest is making your lead stand out just ever so slightly above the backing track. On the lower note passages, it got a tad mudded up and disappeared a little. Great playing and great tone though!

    Axe-Fx II recording question

So, I've had the privilege of using an Axe-Fx for recording once, and it was a great experience. However, I didn't have a lot of time to really dig into it, as it was being loaned to me. I do have a quick question about configuring the outputs of the unit for recording purposes. Ideally, I...
