Ziricote 000 build

Ziricote is a beautiful wood to work with. Amazing tonality as well.
This little 000 is '42 style bound in Paua shell w/ Alaskan Yellow Cedar top & classic torch headstock inlay.
When I built this one I laminated a thin copper strip against the bridge plate on the underside of the top. This allows the strings to be grounded to the input jack so there's zero noise from the under saddle Fishman when recording. :)

That’s beautiful wood.

I’ve been through Taylor’s factory a couple times and they have some high-end guitars in process each time with wood like that. It’s simply stunning.

Your fretboard, and the binding and surround for the sound hole is gorgeous!

Taylor Guitars are a great company. I've done lots of pickup installations over the years & Taylor's are always a pleasure to restring & test.

Bob Taylor built a guitar out of an Oak palette. He wanted to show that a skilled builder could make a nice sounding acoustic out of just about anything laying around.
He was one of my inspirations to look outside of the industry standard of Mahogany & Maple for electrics. There are so many beautiful options.

Thank you for the compliments on the build I appreciate it. :)

Love the parquet soundhole inlay. Looks like the Boston Gardens floor!
Thank you. That's made from bamboo end grain.

Here's a different layout where I used pieces of black palm end grain in the rosette.
This build was Alaskan Sitka (bear claw) Spruce & chocolate heart Mango from Hawaii back & sides, w/ koi inlay.

Beautiful work.

Cedar can be great instrument wood. 👍❤️🙏

I have a plank in an s-type of 700-1200 yr old Nootka cedar. (My wife is from that part of the world.)
