Zakk Wylde tone, Steve Vai the Animal

Hey there, I'm sure this has been already around, if so, please direct me to the right thread.

Any suggestions on getting Zakk Wylde tone from early years with Ozzy all the way to BLS and for Steve Vai The Animal?
 
Zakk should be pretty easy to nail
wah -super OD -chorus marshall 800
or Silver w 6550 cab with EV
les paul w EMG active 81/85

Vai was a Bogner XTC likely
 
The Animal was a Marshall. In the official tab book for Passion and Warfare he lists the gear for the record. I seem to remember it being a JCM800, perhaps modded. A Boss DS1 was probably used as well.
 
Vai tones can be found in pretty much any amp that has a lot of mids in it already, just don’t crank the gain all the way up. Dizzy, JCM800, Friedman HBE, etc. That said, I’m mainly playing an Ibanez JEM with Evolutions in it and when you mix those pickups with any of the above amps, it gets harder to dial the Vai out.
