Yellow Ledbetter tone

Just wanted to share a minor epiphany moment trying to dial in a tone for Yellow Ledbetter on my Fm3.

After getting close, I couldn’t quite find that sweetness in the solo, tried a number of settings, high low cuts, different amps etc.

Then I finally found it!

What I did was firstly added a looper at the beginning to make it easier to make adjustments

Then as I was trying a few adjustments, I stumbled across the 1x12 Deluxe Tweed dynacab and BOOM! There it is. Fine tuned with a sm57 and 121 and it’s literally bang on.

Not only that, but using the same cab combo on the clean sections also nails that tone as well.

So pleased I just had to share, Fractal rocks !

For info, clean uses a Deluxe Verb normal and the solo uses a JCM 800 2203 high

I play the song at almost every show. I try to get a good clean tone, and just use the lead tone I already use for all songs (just have one kitchen sink preset). I started out trying a Fender for my cleans many years ago, but ended up using the Wrecker Express Bright for all cleans. Not sure what I used for dirty at the show below, but right now I'm using the Spawn Q-Rod OD2-1 for dirty and lead.

That sounds amazing, gonna try that amp now. Great playing as well

Oh, just realized I'm using a YA IR in there. Might have to replace it with something you have...

^^ This.

And sound wise it doesn't get any better than this take:

Yep, very nice indeed! Mike was still on tube amps back then, I think. If I'm not mistaken, he uses two Fender Tonemasters now, live. I stopped obsessing over trying to exactly replicate tones or equipment. In my role in the PJ tribute, for rhythm I actually play more what Stone does, or more or less the complicated rhythm parts, because the other guitar is by the singer, so he can only do the simpler parts. Since he mostly plays a Tele, I mostly play a Les Paul, to make our sound fuller.

Bass is on FM9 too. Singer has a FM3 at home but so far only uses his tube amp live.

Will you share the FM3 preset??? Thanks
The FM9 one does not translate very well.
