Wow. More distortion on 'Tom Sawyer' guitar than i recall...

So i ran across this isolated guitar track from 'Tom Sawyer' on Bobby Owsinski 's web site and it's been a while since i've heard the song, but my immediate reaction was that it sounds more distorted than i recall in the production release.
But apparently it is the only guitar in much of the song with just a second guitar for the lead section.

I also noticed it sounds very smeared, and i'm thinking maybe he ran his time shift effects in front of the amp to get that effect...

I'm at work so I can't listen, but IIRC he used a Flanger with a very slow sweep on that ?

That was very enlightening to me. The gain sounded about as I remember but it was not nearly as pristine of a track as would have imagined. Regardless of any of my observations as an isolated track, it sounds great in the mix!
