Yes, that's how I've been doing it...and using my ears too. Always looking for a way to improve!

You probably know this already but there are different meter pages. The vu page, the horizontal bars, is an equal loudness algo similar to the Orban loudness meter. So it is not a conventional level meter. It measures the apparent loudness.

The other meter page, the vertical bars, is a conventional level.
