WISH : Input Wah

That's a nice idea. I think most people could use a wah but aren't too particular about which wah. So dedicating a Wah block just to have one seems like a bit of a waste.

That option just sets which pedal controls the wah by default, it does not put "a wah effect" into the input blocks.

Am I missing something?

Yes....
The idea would be to have something like a dedicated wah block outside the main effects chain, placed at the input rather than consuming a full block — similar to how the noise gate lives in the input stage. It would also be great to see auto-swell migrate there as well. That alone would free up blocks and open up more creative possibilities.

Along similar lines, it could be interesting to explore something like a dedicated reverb (or delay) on the output side. I think M@ has mentioned this concept before, though I’m sure that opens up an entire can of worms around CPU balancing and overall architecture.

The product is still young, so it’ll be interesting to see how these ideas evolve and where the platform ultimately goes.

For that you could just plug in your preferred reverb into the insert loop.

I doubt that. I don’t think this gets implemented but if it were, the forum would be flooded with request to add Wah types and parameters.

I thought you covered this rebuttal well in the wiki, but I am of the sort to RTFM before asking things.

And your preferred wah into the input.
Indeed — but that kind of misses the point of diversity. While running a preferred wah into the input is certainly the easy workaround, I’d much rather have a single expression pedal that doesn’t need to be permanently dedicated to wah duties.

The whole appeal of the AM4 for me is its minimalist approach. I’m not even mounting it on a pedalboard — just plop it on the stage and go. Easy-peasy.

Yes, I own an FM3, FM9, and Axe-Fx III, but the AM4 form factor really hits the sweet spot for my minimalist needs. It’s damn near perfect — and like anything else, there’s always room for thoughtful evolution.

+1 yes i have the same issue i sometimes have to use a wah and to sacrifice a block for it is a shame as i think is quite low as a cpu use
