Aflter slogging through the "Jay Mitchell and the power of flat response" it's become clear I don't have funds to come close to buying the optimal FRFR for the AFX.
I only saw the AFX as solving many issues for me not creating new ones. What it solves still very much outweighs the new ones.
I have enough to afford the MB50 and two passive cabs or the cabs and a rack mount amp such as the GTX800. The idea of the 1ru SS amp weighing only 8lbs that can go in my rack has great appeal. If I'm not happy with the Reactors I would need only to get other passive cabs. However I'm thinking the MB50, a tube amp, is mated to the Reactors by design and a SS amp would not be suitable with the Atomics.
Another option would be The GTX800 and one single, more expensive, FRFR and forget about going stereo or the convenience of having two cabs like one to stay with my bands truck and one for home use.
Any opinions?
