Which poweramp to get for my AX8: Seymour Duncan powerstage vs EHX Magnum 44?

Interesting!
I have the Seymour Duncan powerstage hooked up to my Bogner 2x12 cab for about a week now. So far I like it, but I seem to keep missing something.

Whenever I load a preset (third party presets by Ola, Leon Todd et cetera, and use the fx-loop out like in Leon Todds instruction videos), it usually sounds very bad right away and will sound good after a lot of EQ'ing. This has been somewhat frustrating from time to time, but I've read that a steep learning curve is normal.

Because of this, I've been considering getting a headrush FRFR-112 to compare it to the Poweramp + Bogner cab and return either the poweramp or the headrush.
However, I'm afraid that the headrush won't have the same low-end thump that a regular V30 cab has, which would be a dealbreaker (I really love metalcore with a lot of breakdowns).

Any thoughts?

Well, you can't expect from mix ready presets to sound great right away with a guitar cab without tweaking. Most of the time bottom end is lacking. Actually only 2-3 settings need tweaking and you are good to go. Depth, dynamic resonance and presence. Tweak them as you like. Also if the preset has EQ blocks, disable them all, you need the most raw sound you can get.

About the frfr vs guitar cab thing. These are 2 different worlds. Headrush has great and huge sound but won't give you the push and air feeling you get from the guitar cab, it's really good but different. Needs time to adjust to its sound.
