More pics to come!!!!!

Thanks all!

interesting Mick.. im assuming its similar to what we talked about for months (im Nick) - I'll be interested to hear about its total weight when its complete, since that was my big hang up!

Looks like the first Axe combo amp.

It wouldnt be the first; Mick already made a 2x10 combo with an Ultra in the back before.. But I dunno if the old one had a poweramp, while it looks like this one may (im assuming) be holding a Matrix GM50 in that slot in the back.

Updated pics.....

Got some LineX action going on and the Matrix GT1000FX installed!

Will be making some custom length Neutrik SpeakOn cables to make those connections look better and eliminate the need for using longer speaker cables. By designing the rack hole a little oversized there is ample cooling and it's rather easy to plug in the power and signal cables.

The switch on the right is for the 3db pad on the tweeter and the switch on the right will flip the phase of one of the drivers.

As for the FOH connections... those will come from the Axe-Fx.

Oh, Nick... yeah, this cab does incorporate some of the ideas I have for the cab we were talking about.

Thanks all,

Mick

Just to be precise! I do a lot of work into hifi, where linear frequency-responce is a hall-mark. I have tried nearly all of the class-D amps on the market. Ohh, lot's of watt's for the bucks and a small and lightweight package that suits the PA-companies.
But again, the old class A/B topology still delivers the same flat response but with all the harmonics nearly intact. From my POV the frfr debate has come to the degree where linearity is the only hallmark - and not "tone". I really endorse this Xitone project making a two-way cab bi-amped by old-school silicon.

Looks like a cool idea, interested to see the end result. Will a Matrix GT10002U fit in that space or can make one for the 2U?

Wow didn't see this one coming... So it's a powered FR 212 cab with pad and phase switching?

Yep! The phase switch will have no use in most situations but inverting a side may come in handy for certian stereo situations.

Looking really cool!

Thanks!

The GT1000FX is an awesome amp! No two ways about it and it's flat out awesome in this cab!

YES! 2U amps are not an issue. Plenty of room! (This particular cab does not have enough room but there is plenty of space available for 2U... BTW... 3U is pushing it.... )

Love this Mic keep up posted please

Couple more pics below!

It looks like Mick built this one to accommodate the single space unit with air gap on ether side... Mick?

Air and screw driver/hand gap! At 1.75" 1U is kinda tight!

Love it!

PS - Still loving my ax-ii combo, just a beast to carry around. ;-)

Thanks Geoff! Yours is the original Axe-II combo!

Here are a couple more pictures (sans grille for the moment)

Front and side pics with a cheap Guitar Center amp stand for reference. The cab is using the built in tilt foot.
