Nobody here knows this until now but for many years I was a pro-rodeo photographer, shooting from inside the arena, running from bulls with an attitude and errant broncs, hanging with people who quickly became my extended family.
I absolutely loved it. It was the hardest thing I could think of to do with photography because it takes split second timing and awareness of photo exposures and a third eye to watch out for what could be angling in from the side.
I quit doing it for many years because … well, because. But many months ago I was told by some friends that they’d really like me to return, and I mulled it over again and again, then dipped my toes in again last October for two nights, and had a blast. I submitted my photos and those went over incredibly well with their PR management.
So, I’m rapidly becoming re-immersed into that world.
