We need more soundclips of FRFR wedges and cabs!

Seems like when folks finally get their FRFR cab or wedge, they go into the witness protection program and are never heard from again. Other than a handful of clips, there is not much out there. Let's go folks!! :)

The problem with posting soundclips, recorded with an unknown microphone, in a random sized room, using different guitars and different patches ... and then uploading them to youtube/soundcloud using some random compression algorithm .. is that well-meaning people then compare them and try to draw conclusions about which speaker sounds "better" ... in reallity the greatest variations heard will not be the speakers, but the room, patches and mic position etc.

You only have to listen to a few IR's where they have moved the mic from cone edge to cap to reallise what a huge difference mic position can have .. and thats before you add room variations into the mix.

Not to mention that you are evaluating speakers listening through whatever speakers you are using at home. Kind of silly don't you think?

The only way to compare is in person. And even then you have to compare from all angles using multiple source materials etc. The one thing I learned from the Axe Fest FRFR shootout was that the environment and where you were in it made huge differences. It is the very reason why we devided not to release the video of the FRFR room at Axe Fest West.

Good points all around guys. You are right that there are a lot of variables that could affect how the different speakers come across.
