I've been trying to learn this since high school - like we're talking 37 years or so. Every couple of years I give it a go and I feel like I can finally say "ok, I COULD do it if I had to" and get away with it. :). I know he doesn't tap the end but it appears I just can't alternate pick that accurately and fast sooooo...I cheated. :). This is using the Angle Severe 1 Model with just some reverb and delay. I know it's not 100% right or perfect but I'm checking this one off the list. :)

You know, I feel you… there are pieces I’ve tried to play for decades and still can’t play them convincingly enough (JP Electric Eye solo is one). Kudos to you for capturing this masterpiece of a solo.
 
Nice job! I loved Vito’s style and wish he kept on recording. My college band covered this song and I thought I had the solo down. After watching how he played it, I realize I wasn’t even close. 😁
