Volume for tweaking recording patches vs. live

Obviously live patches are likely to be set up louder simply because of the nature of the equipment they're going through.

Do you set recording patches with a high volume too though? When I'm recording and mixing I tend to listen at conversation volume or a bit higher. Is that where I want the volume for patch building too, or should I blast it a bit for that?

I set up all of my patches loud, and it comes out sounding great for both recording, and live.

Are we talking set up patches playing loud, or hot in the out put? Patches set up playing loud work best for me. loud patches sound good loud or quiet. the patches made quiet sound good quiet but not always when played loud

Setting up patches loud works best for me in both situations. Patches for live use need to be set up loud IMO to keep the high mid and the high range balanced.
