Volume block settings for swells using expression pedal

I'm working on a solo for a song where I want to use volume swells. I'd like to control the swells with the expression pedal instead of using auto swells. Can anyone recommend expression pedal volume modifier settings (attack, release, slope, etc...) for a good starting point or point me to some saved volume .blk files I can use as a starting point?

I recommend using the default settings of the block, and just assign the expression pedal to the volume control. If it gives you the range and taper you want, you're done. If not, then tweak the taper or other settings to change what you don't like about it.

I have a volume block in my presets, but only use it for a few select songs... dont stop believin' and little red corvette, etc. I don't like the MIN starting from 0, or off because it doesn't sound natural. I set the MIN to around 2.

Edit: I just looked at my modifier. My MIN is at 0.50. I'm also using the "Linear" volume taper.

using EV2 i like to set the midpoint to 67% so it gets louder quicker.
i also set it to fast for quick response.
I'm guessing you have the Taper set to Linear?

Analog volume pedals usually have a Log taper pot... You might want to try the various Log options to see if you like them.

Do you want volume swells before or after your main gain stages?
Swells up front = more/less breakup, swells after = higher/lower volume.
I'm guessing the latter... I fiddled with the curve until I got a softer early taper (toe-down) & more aggressive as it nears the heel-down position. This seemed like a really natural feel under the foot, easy to control.

I started out with Linear. I'm starting to experiment with the different log values. There's also something called s-taper. I'm just using the Fractal expression pedal.

I think after. Thanks. I'm playing with the curve setting now.

I agree with @Rumbletone
I like no extra damping. Choose the taper that feels best and use your foot to play the pedal like a responsive instrument.
Though, I use my pinky for swells 99.99% of the time.

@Admin M@ we have both the volume taper and the mapping in the modifier that can both alter the response of the pedal, but how do the two work together? Are they additive or does one override the other?
