View effects list that are on or bypassed

Does anyone know of a way to automatically show what effects are on (activated) or bypassed on the screen (or a better way) when presets and scenes are selected? For example if I am using a 3rd party midi 8 switch with midi out only for any given preset, I want to be able to know what effects are active or bypassed in real time while playing and changing presets and scenes.

I am not purchasing an fc6 or 12 as I have already considered. Going for simple and portability.

Only midi controllers that have been programmed to know how to communicate with Fractal can do that.

That also requires both midi in and out.

What midi controller are you using?

I haven’t bought one yet until I know there is one that will do this. Was considering air step or morning star mc 6 or 8.

I assume the fm3 screen can’t show me in real time with a setting regardless of what footswitch I am using?

Would like the Mel Audio Commander but it doesn’t have midi in.

Would also want whatever foot switch I choose to have both top and hold functions programmed for effects. So if it is a 6 button foot switch I can control 12 effects.

I think the MC6/8 can do it, but I've never owned one... I believe it also supports Tap and Hold.

You might also keep your eyes open for a used FC-6. There's one for sale here on the Classified section for $375.

The fc6 won’t fit in my hard case. I have room for a foot switch about 12” long x 2” tall by 4” deep at most.

How would it work with midi foot switch with midi in connection:
1. If mood footswitch had led lights on each foot switch, would the led’s indicated what effects were active?
2. Could I program to show the layout grid on the fm3 screen somehow with the push of a switch or layout link

It is entirely dependent on the controller as to what it can do.

No, you can't use midi to bring up the the grid.

Double press on Home will bring you the grid. Press Zoom to have it zoomed out so it shows you all the blocks. This way you can see which blocks are active now.

I'm working on a "Wish" to have this page improved, like
  • remove the meters (they are in the next "Meters" page and are quite useless in this one, because you cannot adjust amp gain/volume from this page anyway, for example)
  • improve overall clarity (so much free space on this one! It can be used for bigger blocks display, for example, making it look like a real pedalboard)
  • add some really useful information, like which channel is active and even the name of the block model. Having a channel number display is better than no channel at all, but have, for example, Drive block's details on which exact drive model is active is what really should make this page the most useful in the live situation
  • add "scene" information to this page (maybe instead of "Layout" page title)
  • etc.

Hope to have it posted later this week. I'm bad with Photoshop :)

I'd get the FC-6 and a different case. Working with other MIDI controllers can be a headache in my experience.
