VH Soldano tone and settings help

Chiguete

Experienced
So who has tried to recreate the tone that EVH had using that amp? I want to get in to it but I don't have any experience on Soldano amps or Ed's settings using them but I REALLY love to play Poundcake live and really do justice to the tone.

Yep. A lot of people think F.U.C.K. was recorded with a 5150, but on the day the album was released, they gave a free concert and played the whole thing. Eddie was standing in front of stacks of Soldanos, and he sounded just like the record.

Any idea on what amp and speaker combo model to start with if building from scratch??

The one that replicates the SLO is the Solo 100 and I would think that Eddie used the Lead channel. Also I imagine he just used the head and connected it to the same Marshall cabs that he used with his Marshall heads because as far as I know he only purchased 3 heads from Mike Soldano.

Found this thread from @ProgressiveRocco https://forum.fractalaudio.com/threads/tribute-to-eddie-van-halen-w-free-patch.166735/ the patch was for an AXIII so imported it in my FM3 changed it a bit so it could work making everything linear and removed the enhance as there were not enough blocks for all of the settings in the FM3, not sure if anything else was lost but its kind of cool for a quick import... Perhaps someone else may have a better contribution to your request.

Yeha but that one he wasn't trying to get the tones of that era of VH, that's why he is not using the SLO amp in that preset.
