Using bass with guitar power amp?

Hey y'all! Another noob questions since I'm new to this new tech hehe.

I'm usually connecting my ax8 to the amp return (Marshall on rehearsal, Mesa mini rectifier at home) and I was wondering will it be ok to plug a bass instead? Will it sound bad cause the power amp sections comes from a guitar amp? Can it make any damage to the amp / cabin?

So the chain will be
Bass > ax8 > rectifier power amp

It's not going to break anything but unless the power amp and cab are made for bass it'll probably sound a little less than perfect.
 
a lot of pro players play with a guitar head in parallel to there traditional bass rig, overdriven tone blend and stuff.
certain bands use clean amp like a JC-120 in parallels with a DI.
I you don't crank anything to 11 you won't break anything.
