Using a standard XLR to extend the length of FASLINK to power a tuner pedal... Eh?

I got a FASLINK with a 2.1mm barrel on the end with my Voes MX-9. I would like to use that cable to power a tuner pedal but don't want to mess anything up. I could just power it through normal means but that limits where I can place and I'd like to move it around on the fly.

There is a thread in this forum about getting power from the FASLINK port.
I soldered a custom XLR plug to power my Digitech Drop (9V) and a USB LED Light (5V).
Keep in mind: The FASLINK's output is 12V, but in general: Yes, you can "steal" power from the unit.

Thanks for the reply. I used it to power my Voes unit, which came with the Faslink-to-2.1 barrel, but when I decided to keep my FM3 on a desk instead of a pedalboard, I needed a longer cable and was worried that using a regular XLR to extend the length could be dangerous. I guess phantom power can travel through one so it should be fine.
