Using a bass head as a poweramp for passive speakers/axe fx II?

Hi there guys

I'm wondering if it's possible to use a small bass amp (Eden WTX500) as a power amp to run my passive studio monitors/axe fx? If so does anyone know how I would connect it all up? The bass amp has the following inputs/outputs.

Input - Send - Return - Aux L (input) - Aux R (input) - Tuner

and on the back...

D.I (xlr) - Phones - Speaker Output (strange input/jack that I'm not sure what it takes) - 2 x Bal. (States, Do not ground output).

If anyone has any information that would help me I would be very grateful.

Thanks and take care!

Hi,

Disclaimer - I dont know your amp! But I just looked at it's web page....
I'd be putting the two Axe FX outputs into the amps Aux L & Aur R inputs,
The funny connector you talk of is called a 'Speakon connector' which will accept a 1/4 inch male or an XLR connector. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Speakon_connector

Hope that helps
Pauly

Great thanks a lot Pauly! And from there I'd just plug the studio monitors into the bass amp via the speakon connector or the 2 balanced outputs?

The whole point of Speakon connectors is they DO NOT accept low voltage/current signal cables like jack or XLR. They are designed as a high current locking connector that is completely incompatible with any other connector, for power amp to speaker connection.

I expect the connector you are talking about is a combo socket.

According to the manual it is indeed a Speakon connector. So would my best bet be 1/4" jack out from balanced outputs to speaker wire in monitors? Don't think I've ever seen a jack to speaker wire cable before, not sure how this is done normally.

Yes exactly right!.. let me go and remove the evidence!

thanks
