Use XL+ As Midi Translator Between Computer and Ultra?

I have some saved factory Ultra Presets I'd like to be able to put back on the Ultra if I decide to sell it. It looks like I should be able to use the my XL+, rather than dragging out my old MidiMate or whatever and trying to make that work (old drivers, etc., ugh!).

The IO section of the manual makes it sound as if midi that comes in over USB can be passed to the 5 pin MIDI OUT port (I realize I will need the old SysLibrarian program which I still have).

Anyone know for sure?
