Undo and redo button

I was looking for the undo button just last night. I suppose it would use up memory and cycles that could be used for something else...
 
I sometimes hit Control-Z hoping that it will work.
I would be nice... But I suppose that is what snapshots are for.
 
bump for this .. just thinking how nice it would be for at least just one step undo function.
I guess there used to be one? I still save my presets constantly, but it would give me some extra piece of mind.
