Ultra + Matrix Patch Help

Alright- a bit of a noob question here, but I need to get some clarification to double-check things with my patches.

I'm running my Ultra through a Matrix GT1000FX poweramp (it emulates valves, but lacks any) and in to an Orange PPC410 cabinet.

What exactly needs to be on/off?
- Should I have a cabinet block? (I thought not, but I may be wrong?)
- Should I have poweramp sim on or off? (considering my poweramp doesn't have valves)
- What should I do with my damp and sag parameters?

I'm looking for a high-gain tone with a pronounced midrange, a LOT of note definition and clarity, with a thick low end.

Any answers/advice associated with the questions above would be appreciated, as would any tone advice. Thank you guys.

Ok, let's try something. Don't know how it'll sound with some G10N-40..

Dass metall :

drive 6 - bass 6.5 - mid 5 - treb 5.3 - pres 7 - depth 6.5

damp 9 - sag 3.5 - master 4.5 - thump 10 - spkr res 106 hz

tonestack freq 500hz - presence freq 2500hz - bias 0.37

Post graphic EQ :

125 hz = +0.6 db
250 = + 1.2
500 = +0.6
2k = -0.6
4k = -1.2
8k = -0.6

FWIW : It's useless to point out recorded tones as examples, nobody can tell how it sounds IRL.

For me personally that was quite muddy and fizzy. I tend to favor high-mids over low-mids as well.
It may help to know that I'm using a Jackson DXMG- basswood body, EMG HZs (awful pups, but what I have to work with)

My patch I've been using is close to what I like, but it's not cutting it. It looks like this:

It sounds decent at bedroom levels, but as I turn it up it gets too bright. If I try to tame the treble it loses the clarity.. Overall just something isn't right with it.

@ peaxches

I tried your settings and I'm pretty surprised about it. There are no lows and highs. So I have two questions, are you fine with that low-end, and what was your previous amp ?

My guess are the speakers. Try the cab sims on and start from scratch. Soms guitar cabs have to much sizzle above 5-6 kHz.
NTL here some you might like. They come from my Ultra. BTW did not test your settings. My setup Ultra with Gt800 and some 2x12 cabs.

Unfortunately I don't have Axe-Edit on this computer, and I won't be able to use it until I get a different laptop.. So I can't try your patches at this time.

I'd like a fuller low-end, but if I turn up bass it tends to get too muddy. Granted, I'm still very new with my Ultra.

Crank the thump in conjunction with the master, it'll tighten the low end.

Let's try another one
