Tuner (IA17) no longer engages with MFC button press (solved)

Recently my tuner IA (17) has stopped working. I can still engage the tuner from the front panel but the MFC won't engage it. The red OFF LED stays on the whole time. Could some communication between the Axe and the MFC have been changed when I updated to fw 11.00? How should I troubleshoot this? (I've already checked IA17's MIDI settings, and it looks normal to me.)

Is the Tuner CC set to default in I/O?

IA17 set to TUNER in Edit > MIDI on MFC?
 
Does the switch work if you change its function? For example, set it to Amp 1.
 
When I changed the MIDI setting to AMP1 the MFC stopped displaying my preset names (only the number)... followed by AXE-FX NAME TIMEOUT! The other IA LEDs went out also.

When I reset IA17 to TUNER, the Timeout error remains... ?
 
Looks like a connection problem.

- Make sure the cable if firmly attached.
- Try another cable. A simple network cable will do.
- Clean the connectors at both sides (blow air).
 
The preset info just came back after I wiggled the CAT5 cable. The tuner is back also.

I wouldn't mind but it's a brand new cable!!
