Troubleshooting noise on Scene switch (solved)

In the attached recording, I am playing a loop and rapidly switching back and forth between scene 1 and 2 using my FC6. Scene 1 and 2 are identical. Help?

I'd bet hard money that they aren't identical if there is noise from changing between them.

I listened to your clip but not sure what the noise is... I'm not hearing it, but maybe the noise you hear is just sounding like "effects" to me.

Make sure when comparing the scenes that you check the channel of every block, even those that are bypassed. Changing channels on a bypassed block can still cause glitches in some cases.

Also, check any Scene Controllers.

Maybe you mistook the noise for percussion as I was switching back and forth quickly?
I copied scene1 to scene2. Attaching the preset...

Something to do with the 'Trem/Pan' block? Remove the modifier on the Bypass state and the noise goes away? Seems like it's very quickly switching on during the scene change? Not sure why?

Lots of other strange things in that preset too?

I too was going to bet that they weren't identical...
Copied the scene anew and switching still had clicks.
Started removing blocks... thought that maybe the LFO on Delay 3 is causing it, then drive block, what about long tail reverb... still clicks
There are still clicks all the way down to a In 1 > Looper > Out 1 (with no modifiers on anything).
It's not just youfuzzyoctaves; I think you should send in the patch for the experts to troubleshoot!

Thanks so much Entasis (and everyone else). I was thinking that it was my FC6 or external switches somehow making the noise. When you say "send in the patch for the experts," do you mean I should send it in to http://support.fractalaudio.com ?

FWIW, I'll explain some of the the "strange things" in the preset:

Delay3 is the "warp" lifted from the Warped Vinyl stock preset. It is enabled by a momentary external switch (2).
External switch1 turns on Hold on the last reverb block, enables the drive and the filter block on row 5 which is set to mute when off. This creates a pad and a lead that bypasses the pad so you can play over it.
It is still a work in progress and it normally includes loops 3+4 to punch in an HXFX patch both before and in the middle because it is at max CPU.

I checked again to make sure before escalating... I don't get the buzz/click anymore when it's just In 1 > Looper > Out 1, but any other block being present does create a click.

@Moke was on the right track! At first I thought it was the external switches! I had a long post typed up speculating about the behaviour, but before posting I tried it with a control switch on the FC-6. There are still clicks. I even tried it with an LFO. Also clicks.

Any modifier on the bypass state of a block will temporarily turn that block on for a few ms and add that effect to the click.
If you have a bypassed drive block with an external switch on the bypass you will you will get a distorted click.
If you have a bypassed ring mod block with a control switch on the bypass you get a ring modded click.
If you have a bypassed pitch block with an LFO on the bypass you get a pitch shifted click.

BTW the LFO panning the balance on the drive (before an amp) is not doing anything. Nor is the 773ms attack on the bypass of the Drive.

Edit: removed appeal to Fractal Audio.

What is the saved state of each block in each scene? If the scene is set to have the block on, but the switch is off, I'd guess that would cause the block to turn on for a split second until the switch overrides it. Scenes will always affect the block bypass state no matter what.

Spot on mr_fender! When I first add a block it is always on by default. I then applied the modifier to the bypass and it clicks. Turn the block off first, then add the modifier--no click!
Easy fix for fuzzoctaves!

I think the same sort of thing can happen with auto-engage too. You have to make sure the scene is saved with the block off.

The II had the same behavior.
