Tone Talk - Rectifier and Soldano

You have to build amps , or talk with those who build or service them , to understand why so many are merely "flavors" of the same amp.
I'd be happy with a 3 amp , 5 button AX8 , and a spec PDF to create all the others.

It's strange that all these amps are so similar. I've never liked Rectos, however I really get along great with 5150's. Huh.

I've played a couple of SLO's and I think they're pretty good but don't really love them. There's a "swampy" quality to them that I never gelled with.

The first amp I ever purchased was a Rev G Dual Rectifier. I still have and love that amp. I knew a guy that had a SLO100, and I never really liked the tones coming out of it. I also don't like 98% of Marshall amps, but absolutley LOVE the Friedman BE100.

I guess it's like cake. Vanilla, Chocolate, Red Velvet, Lemon, they're all cake. I just prefer some flavors more than others.

But don't skimp on the frosting. Butter creme.
