Timeout message solved - here's a tip

Hey all,

Had a timeout message at rehearsal & wanted to let everyone know; first thing you should do is always check your cables & if possible try a new cable.
I replaced my FASlink with a new XLR cable = problem solved. No reboots, no new firmware, no messages to the Fractal forum pleading for help.
Just a tip I wanted to share

I think that's the thing with a lot of issues like this... quite often it's just a bad cable. I've lost track of the amount of times I when I was involved in tech support that people would insist the cable (no matter what type) 'must' be OK... my view was that 'must' could be purely subjective and how did they 'know' for sure?
(Apart from that sometimes they changed a cable for one they had sitting around, tangled like spaghetti in the bottom of a drawer/case and 'assumed' that would be 'OK')

I have found that for the fas link the quality of the xlr does make a difference. I have started getting ohm readings on some of my cables old and new and I am surprised how much this varies with quality.
