Admittedly, with a bit of a learning curve, though it's not hard to get a good amp/cab sound right out of the gate. Most people forget about how important the monitoring solution is.
 
A great device indeed - and, compared to other convoluted affairs (some with touch screens), not much of a learning curve at all if one spends just a little time RTFM, and, if happening upon an issue and asking for forum help, making just a little bit of effort to help others provide effective help.
 
It’s hard to overstate how much of a joy the FM3 and FM9 have been for me. Makes me want to pick up the guitar and get better every day.

I’ve used and liked other gear, but not as much as these two units. Been about 3 years in, and I’m still learning a lot.

Yes, I agree. Really not that hard. I found the FX8 easier, but part of that was I had the AX8 for a long time. The VP4 is quite simple. Nothing terribly difficult about the Axe FX III/FM9 (also FM3).
 
The available tones are great, the onboard FX are great, it's convenience is great, it's routing options are great, the support is great, the free updates are great, Cliff is great!

All these things & more, make it the greatest!

After the sound/tech aspects of FAS devices, the experience and helpfulness of and general civility within the community was a factor for me, definitively.

If I had thought another brand's devices to be superior, I'd have bought that, but I most likely would not be active on their forum, if there even is one (no, facebook/X don't count).
