Talk me out of getting back into amps

The preamp sounded brighter, (than the poweramp should sound darker to compensate). The overall result was similar, but fine tuning a DSL, disable the poweramp and compare the real and model there a lot of difference! I don't have marshall or mesa anymore to try...

Not really a general rule. Power amps are not dark.
