Switcher suggestions for multiple guitars.

Side topic. What do you folks use as a switcher? I have 2 or 3 guitars for live performances. I always just mute the guitar, unplug the cable and pick up my other guitar and plug it in. Not elegant. Years ago I bought a switcher but it was passive and noisy. I suppose it doesn't have to switch. It could just be a multiple input into one out put. But a switcher makes more sense, silencing the other guitars.

Suggestions? What do the big boys use? I suppose I could use multiple inputs on the FM9, huh? I was thinking of something before hitting the FM9.

just do what you already do unless you switch to a wireless system with multiple packs.

"big boys" usually use the radial signal manager or something similar, but thats usually in a rack. Youd be better off just getting a GLXD+ and 2 extra body packs.

I do the GLXD+ wireless with extra body packs as @Vhalen50 mentioned.
Also, if your using a cable, you could switch to the tuner and swap guitars. The tuner can be set to mute.

Yeah but I'm not doing wireless.

The Lehle units are really nice. @yek turned me onto them a couple years ago. They make several versions so be sure to wander their site.

They’re MIDI-switchable and can be daisy-chained and then linked via MIDI to make them extra flexible.

I have the tuner set to mute, and just turn it on to switch guitars.
Since that's how I want the tuner to work anyway, it's a no-brainer.

Yeah but you unplug and re-plug in the guitars? I'm looking for sometihng where the guitars are plugged in and all I have to do is switch guitars and hit a switch.

All these seem like active devices, which pretty certainly means you'd lose the impedence interactions with fuzzes etc, if that matters to you.

I'm using this to connect two guitars to the single Input on my FM3.

1st guitar goes into main input on this pedal, 2nd guitar goes into Rec input. One button to switch between them, completely muting the "other": guitar.
Second button mutes both, cause it activates external "Tuner" output (can be used to connect to some other equipment or some other input on the device to skip part of the chain or engage special effect).

Excellent!
So that's why they're expensive then.
Well, that and because they support MIDI and are programmable. They are a good company.

Years ago I made a simple switcher with a little Bud box, an SPST foot switch and three 1/4” T/S jacks to switch between two guitars. The other day I needed something for my VP4 board and dug that out and it works perfectly still. It’s not as fancy or intelligent as the Lehle, but it’s smaller and doesn’t need power; it’s barely big enough to fit the components.

For more than two guitars I’d go with the Lehle. It’s well made.

Purpose-built homebrew for the win!
Or higher dollar best of breed if you gotta.

Everyone is suggesting some good hardware but what's wrong with the multiple ins on the Fm9? If you only have 3 guitars and don't need to use the other ins and outs for an FX loop, why wouldn't you just the 3 ins?

It'd be totally programmable within the FM9. Off the top of my head, the best way to set it up would be with control switches and set them to be exclusive (only one can be on at a time)

That would sacrifice 3 of the 6 control switches but if you don't need them, that's better than spending money on more hardware

I actually made myself curious and decided to refer to the FM9 manual if there's anything different about the different inputs. Turns out, 2 and 3 don't have the "secret sauce".

Dare I ask what exactly is the secret sauce? Or will this happen....
