Spdif out

It's a digital audio out. The other outputs are analog. A processor like the AX8 converts the analog input signal to digital so it can be processed. Then the processed signal is converted back to analog and sent out by the analog line outs. But the s/pdif outputs the processed digitized signal before the final analog conversion. It's useful if you want to keep the signal digital like for recording in a DAW. This way you avoid extra digital to analog and analog back to digital conversions, potentially preserving more of the audio quality.

While we're on the subject... Does anybody know if we can expect the AX8 s/pdif to output at a 48k sampling rate option? I often want to record specifically for video.

Hi, I'm new on this forum and all things Fractal. Thinking about going for the AX8. When recording I often change my mind about tones, so it has to be able to re-amp in an effective way. Is this possible using the spdif output?
