Trust me, you will know if your signals aren't synced...you will get a clicking type of sound that will drive you nuts.....I use a Motu Traveler and Motu Digital Performer as my DAW...the DAW is set to recieve sync from the Axe FX as it is the master...Axe FX does not recieve sync, it only transmits it..as far as a digital connection is concerned. The sound I am getting is pristine...there is no degredation of signal quality that I can discern. I am also running the balanced analog outs into my traveler as an A/B comparison using high quality AES/EBU digital cables....There is no difference in the sound as far as I can tell. I will record with the S/PDIF as I'm inclined to think this is the shortest route to the DAW
