Fractal Fanatic
I wrote this song 10 years ago and was never able to record it how I wanted it to sound until recently. Normally I just ditch songs that I’ve had sitting around that long, but I was pretty stoked with how I did the vocals on the chorus in this one as it gets into some Cornell/Dio territory (especially the last one) and the lyrics were too personal to me to let go of it entirely, so I buckled down and finally finished it.

Guitars were my Edwards and Orville Les Pauls, 2 takes of each on each side so it’s quad tracked using the IIC++ model. The lead starts with the Edwards into a Mark IV model, but ends with my JEM into Amplitubes Mark IV (one of the few pieces I kept from a previous recording). Bass was my Spector into the AxeFX, drums are SD3.
I think this one does a fairly decent job at keeping one foot in 90’s metal and one foot in modern metal and is more in line with what I wanted out of metalcore but never really got.
