So: What is the best way to make your guitar sound like a bass?

Ok, so I tried all of your suggestions. Thx, but in the end I just found the sound to be too rough with too much latency ... so now I own a bass (Ibanez SR300)

I felt like I needed a bass too because the Roland GR-20 doesn't work well, didn't want to do a whole lot of preset diddling etc. I don't have the hands for a real bass so I got this:

Kala U-Bass solid body. I got turned onto it after seeing Steve Vai's bassist Phillip Bynoe using one on several tunes live. Powerful sound from a wee thing. I like small guitars and basses.

Played those at NAMM a couple of years back. Wicked sound but they aren't cheap!

There was an awesome preset floating around ages ago. It actually sounded really good. I don't have it anymore. I wish I still had it.
