Smoke and Mirrors - Symphony X cover (Malmsteen strat + Plexi 50)

Hey guys,

All these Malmsteen threads had me itching for some neoclassical metal! Decided to whip on the underused Malmsteen Strat and make a Yngwie-esque patch with the Plexi 50 High. I've been listening to some Symphony X again and decided to try and learn Smoke and Mirrors. Got a long way to go still on playing it clean, but I'm digging the tones, I can see myself dusting off the Malmsteen Strat more often :p

 
fun stuff, but definitely not Romeo's sound, my fav. band, but a fun conversion to an Yngwie sound.

You man yeah definitely not Romeo's sound. I find his tone rather elusive, a combination of the high output X2N pickup, light strings and tuning down to D. I'm always in standard tuning. I loved his tone on the older albums (up til V), but somehow can't really dig his newer ENGL tones.
