Routing to DAW - Dry & Wet -Question

I've been using the same routing scheme for so long, I don't really know any other way.

I typically just bypass my reverb and delay effects when recording but now I want to hear the effects when tracking without recording them.

I'm connecting to my DAW via USB.

Is there an easy way to accomplish this?

Thanks.

Add the Out 2 block on another row and connect it to the signal path before the reverbs and delays and record that output on USB Inputs 3&4. Out 1 will still send everything to your monitors/headphones.

I should have mentioned that I don't use my Axe-FX as my interface. My studio monitors are connected to my interface.
Axe-FX III > Mac Mini via USB > Logic Pro (DAW) > Interface (audient) > Monitors.

Mr. Fender is correct, just use an Out 2 block that bypasses your reverbs and delays. Then record Out 2 while you monitor Out 1. You can connect both of those outputs to an audio interface, but the better way to do it is to set the AxeFX as your input device:

Go to Logic -> Preferences -> Audio and choose the AxeFX as your input device.

If you need to use your audio interface as input to record other instruments, then create an aggregate with the Audio MIDI Setup app that includes both the interface and the AxeFX.

Yeah, use two tracks in Logic. Monitor one track on USB Inputs 1&2 and record on the second track (without monitoring) on USB Inputs 3&4.

There's no need for that. He can still send analog output 1 to his interface for direct monitoring, which is what he presumably does already. The only difference is that will be used only for monitoring.

And I assumed he was. One of us is right, but I don't know who :).

In any case Warrior, it's always better to monitor direct to your studio monitors instead of through your computer.

Hey Guys,
Thanks for the tips. I'm currently not using analog outs from the Axe- Just straight into computer via USB.
I've been running using an Aggregate with my Axe and interface so I can also use a mic when needed for acoustic, voice, etc.My output is set to my interface.

I set Logic to low latency monitoring when I record.

It's usually better to monitor direct. That way you don't have to deal the plugin disabling that comes with low latency monitoring. It's often annoying to have your mix change when you record. Plus, even with that, most people find the latency annoying when monitoring through the computer. The only time it makes sense to monitor through the computer when you need to monitor through plugins.

Yeah, I'm not used to doing that. Perhaps it's time to start.
Any advice on a simple routing scheme not using XLR (so I don't have to unplug mics). My interface has 2 XLR in's and SPDIF.

I've also been wanting to reamp on occasion but I've avoided it just because of the complexity in doing so with my setup.

You're right, you should set it up so no recabling is ever necessary. If your audio interface doesn't have enough inputs to accommodate the AxeFX, then just get a small inexpensive line mixer to share your studio monitors between your audio interface and your AxeFX. It's handy to have mixer knobs to balance those two anyway. Also, one of the benefits of a setup like this is that re-amping will be simple.

I do have a Mackie Mix 8 laying around.
I hate to ask but if there's a thread you could point me to that discusses setting this up for all of these routings, I would appreciate the help.

Thank you so much for the advice you've already provided!

You could run analog out from both the Axe III and your Audient into the Mackie mixer and use that to feed your monitors. That would let you monitor while using either one as your output device.

Recording would still be done via USB on either device.

I'm not aware of any guide for the AxeFX owner who wants to record. If you look at the owners manual, you can see configurations and advice for a variety of configurations, but not for recording. If one was to collect the advice given in various threads on this forum, it would probably form a pretty comprehensive guide for recording with the AxeFX.

Is this possible in AxeFx 2 ? I know I can't add another output but
