Rockabilly type Slapback

Anybody had any joy getting a true sounding Rockabilly slapback going on?

Tried the Factory Rockabilly preset and doesnt 'really float my boat..

Here's the info I used to create my slapback tone (source: Sweetwater):

A short single-repeat echo effect often heard in ’50s pop and rockabilly styles. Slapback delay is often used on electric guitar, but can also be applied to drums, vocals, and more. Delay times are usually short, in the range of 40-120 milliseconds, with the delay effect mixed up quite loud against the dry signal. See also “slap echo.”

Turn the feedback down on the delay as mentioned above and use a sprung reverb like the medium spring. You don't need a lot of effects just eq it so it's sits well in the mix and isn't too spikey.

If I get chance tomorrow night when I'm back from a business trip ill post a preset which should get you in the ballpark.

I like using around 117 ms w/ one repeat using the mono tape.. gets me in the ball park. I don't try to emulate a specific recording or example though..

here's my slap back block: I usually use it with a spring reverb too and I set the 'pre delay' on the reverb to 60-80 MS so it doesn't muddy up the first slap of the delay
