Rig Changeups

Go for it. I was the same way. Once I leaned how to use it, live and recording, I haven't looked back.

I used valve amps for years, my previous 'ideal' rig was a Bogner Shiva Anniversary -> G System -> vintage Marshall 4x12. I spent a long time getting the G-sys dialed in with the amp and was (and still am) really happy with that rig.
I got the Axe-FX 2 about 18 months ago, I read the manual and watched the videos before I got it to get a handle on the way patches work. At first I used it occasionally while I got used to it, but over the past few months the recent firmware upgrades have taken it to the point where I feel that it can replace the valve amp/4x12 rig and I use it all the time now.
I run it with a Matrix powered 2x12 with V30s - I like having a real cab behind me on stage. I've tried it with FRFR monitors but prefer the cab sound.
I play in 2 bands, classic rock tribute and general covers pop/rock/funk etc, and the Axe handles it all with ease
