Recording without reverb and timed effects but monitroing

Dumb question. I just did a recording session as a hired gun, and I realized I didn't know how to do something. I wanted to monitor with my effects but not record them. Not record just a clean DI track for later reamping, but a track with the distortion, overdrive, compression etc, but no reverb or delay. Do I move the FXLoop later in the chain but before the Delay and reverb? I have the FXLoop in the front on a separate chain. I guess that must be the way. Setting the levels on output 2. Nah. I'm recording out of output 1 with 2 XLRs. Hm.

So I just recorded without those effect. It was hard.

send the reverb / delay etc in parallel to the fx loop output2 and pop that into another pair of channels in the desk
record output1 for the dry amp'd tone
