recorded sound from AX8 via FOH sounds different

Recent gig - AX8 output 1 stereo to FOH, output 2 {echo of 1 } to FRFR for monitor on stage

The gig was recorded. The sound on the recording is thick and overdriven. The sound to FRFR and FOH and coming out of mains is not. This is violin pickup though tube pre on low drive level. It should have sounded cleaner.

Any ideas why and how to fix for future?
 
How loud was FOH/monitor compared to listening to the recording? Fletcher Munson could explain it.

Also, is the FOH actually stereo output? Many are not regardless of the fact that you send a left and right signal.

How about the monitor?
