Recommendation for looper with the AM4

Any recommendations for a simple decent looper that would work well with AM4 for home use only? My setup will be exclusively running the AM4 through studio monitors or headphones and connected to my macbook for basic recording. Thanks!

I use a NUX Core Stereo. I chose this for a few reasons but three stand out:
  1. The looper has a headphone out jack so I can connect the line outs from the AM4 to the NUX, then use my headphones without a need for a DAW or laptop.
  2. The NUX looper has a simple drum machine.
  3. You can load backing tracks and other wav files into the preset slots.
So, basically, with the headphone out, drum machine/backing track capability I can practice offline without the need for a laptop or DAW.

The headphone out is a killer feature on a looper for a bedroom player. I've been trying to figure out what the best way to looper my FM3 would be that didn't require me to add the DSP overhead of the looper in the preset directly. This looks like a winner, thanks for the suggestion

Thank you! So in this scenario are you still using the send/return on the AM4?

I really like the Loopy Pro app for iOS (would necessitate an iPad or iPhone) connected via USB to my FM9 (assuming it would work for the AM4 similarly). It has a lot of good tools for getting loops aligned, can function as a more conventional linear DAW, and the output over USB is then routed to the headphone out on FM9. You could run backing tracks or software instruments in it, though I haven't used such functionality yet. With a USB-MIDI cable I also set up the FM9 foot switches to trigger MIDI sends to the iPad and sync the clock. I assume the AM4 could be similarly configured, but can't speak about this directly.

I am not currently using the send/returns on the AM4. I just use the stereo 1/4 line outs on the AM4 -> NUX Looper -> Headphones. You can also use the line outs on the NUX Looper to then send to your mixer or interface.

By placing the looper at the end of the chain, your loops, drums, etc. are not impacted by any AM4 blocks.

I know there are a lot of solutions for DAW/Interface connectivity, I am just proposing a potential solution if you want to silently practice with no additional software, mobile device or computer required. Easy peasy :)
